Shere Khan is Coming

Shere Khan Is Coming

It was early evening in the jungle and it was cooler. The jungle seemed to come to life after the sun had begun to set; Father Wolf was just getting ready to go out for his evening hunt. His mate, Mother Wolf, was just feeding their cubs and all seemed peaceful and calm.

Suddenly they heard a rustle in the bushes and the whiny was unpredictable and cruel. He would often spread the malicious tale of fear throughout the jungle and then go completely mad, biting everything in his sight.

Mother Wolf stood in front of her cubs, so as to protect them, as Tabaqui eyed them, as if they were food.

What are you doing here, Tabaqui?” Father Wolf, asked impatiently.

“ Oh, don’t worry, my friend,’’ drawled Tabqui, “I’m only here to give you some news. Shere Khan is on his way here. He has changed his hunting spot for the season. I thought you should know!’’

Tabaqui was pleased with the effect his words seemed to have. There was pleased with the effect his words seemed to have. There was fear in Mother Wolf’s eyes. This would mean trouble for every animal in the jungle. It would be harder to hunt because the animals would be too afraid of Shere Khan to emerge from their homes and burrows. It may even draw the villagers into the jungle with their torches of fire, to look for the tiger, who preyed on their cattle.

“You have delivered your bad news, now leave!” shouted Father Wolf. He did not want the dirty jackal near his family.

“Gladly,” bowed the jackal, “but l know the exalted Shere Khan is coming this way, himself! Good luck!” he called, as he left.
